Music

Native Americans express themselves through their music. The two main characteristics of Native American music are vocals and percussion. Drums are often used in the music. The rhythm often starts as a slow, steady beat and becomes faster and louder as the music progresses. The vocals are composed of the tribe's Native Language. Native American music is most often seen in storytelling and ceremonial activities. As with art, the music is often symbolic of different aspects of nature. Music and dance are often combined in ceremonies to express the culture of the different tribes.
